The Africa~Diaspora Institute for Social Studies Teachers

2024-2025

In 2025, from February 18-20, the Center for the Study of Africa and the African Diaspora (CSAAD) hosted a 3-day institute for New York City Department of Education middle and high school teachers for the purpose of providing them with training and materials to facilitate the integration of teaching the African Diaspora into their classrooms.

Teachers enrolled in the Institute completed lesson plans integrating new content from the Institute, and received the Staff Development rate per session as well as a CTLE credit granted by the NYCDOE. Sessions were led by New York University professor Dr. Michael A. Gomez.

2023-2024
